Choosing a collagen stimulator
Every product in this category stimulates new collagen, but they fall into three groups that behave differently in practice.
Polylactic acid (PLA): Sculptra, Fize PLA
Supplied as a powder and reconstituted before use. There is no immediate volume: the result builds gradually as new collagen forms, usually over a course of sessions. Used for global volume restoration, for example the temples, cheeks and lateral face, and for body areas.
Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA): Radiesse, Urevs 4D Fill
Ready-to-use gels containing CaHA microspheres. Used undiluted they give immediate structure for jawline, chin and cheek contour and keep stimulating collagen afterwards. Diluted or hyperdiluted, the volumising effect is minimal and the aim is skin quality and laxity. Read the Radiesse and hyperdilution guide.
Hybrid PLA and hyaluronic acid: Fize PLA+HA for Body
Hyaluronic acid for immediate volume plus PLA for longer-term collagen, designed for larger body areas such as the buttocks and hips.
Same material class, lower trade price
Fize PLA (polylactic acid) and Urevs 4D Fill (CaHA) use the same classes of material as Sculptra and Radiesse at a lower trade price, and both qualify for volume discounts. Urevs 4D Fill works out at £54.99 per ml against £79.20 for Radiesse. They are different products from different manufacturers, so follow each product's own instructions for use.
